Check Which Version of Office.com setup You Are Using 

Most of us use Microsoft Office programs on a regular basis but you can forget which Office edition you are running. If you need to know which Office.com setup you have, and which architecture (32-bit or 64 bit), we'll show you how to find this information quickly on Windows and Mac. 


Understanding Office edition you have can be useful when installing templates and Office add-ins, some of them only work with specific versions of Office.com setup

Windows: Office 2013 and 2016

Open one of the Office applications , for example Word. If the ribbon looks close to the picture below (ribbon tabs with sharp corners), use either Office 2013 or Office 2016. If your ribbon looks different, skip to section below. 

 

Tap the "File" tab to find out more specifics about which edition about Office.com setup  2013 or 2016 you are using.

On the backstage screen, click “Account” in the list of items on the left.

You can see on the right side of the account screen which version of Office you are using and whether you have a subscription plan or not. The exact version number and build number are listed under the Office.com setup Updates section. Click "About Phrase" to find out whether your version of Office is 32-bit or 64-bit.

The version and build number are listed at the top of the About dialog box along with either “32-bit” or “64-bit”. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.

Windows: Office 2010

If the ribbon in your version of Office.com setup has tabs with corners that are not quite so sharp, you are likely using Office 2010. To find out more information about which version of Office 2010 you’re using, click the “File” tab.

On the File screen, click “Help” in the list of items on the left.

On the right side of the File screen, you’ll see which edition of Office you’re running. Under About Microsoft Word (or other Office program), the exact version and build number is listed, along with whether the program is 32-bit or 64-bit. For even more information, click “Additional Version and Copyright Information”.

You’ll see a dialog box with additional information about the current version of the program and your Product ID towards the bottom. Click “OK” to close the dialog box.
